APRIL 6, 2020 UPDATE: Since we recorded this podcast in late March 2020, there has been a change regarding face coverings. One of my key questions during the podcast was “to mask or not mask.” At the time, masks were not being recommended. Rationally speaking, I found it difficult to believe that wearing a mask would not reduce the chances of infection even if slightly as in transferring it to someone else, and now, we have this recommendation in place. There is A LOT going on currently in March 2020. We are being inundated with complex health information at times laced with politics and social media opinions. To help clarify the communication and understanding, I reached out to my long-time friend and health colleague Dr. Sarah Baron who has public health experience. Her animated presentation below really helped me understand COVID-19 better and what we should be doing about it at home and in our communities. To follow up more, we recorded an informational podcast where she explained some of the common questions many have today.
COVID-19 Scientific Resources:
- CDC-Centers for Disease Control
- WHO-World Health Organization
- NIH-National Institutes of Health
- GIS-Graphic Information System Mapping (John Hopkins University)
- GIS-Graphic Information System Mapping (University of Washington)
Take a listen and explore the resources too. Stay safe, stay well, and stay at home as much as possible.
–Ron Jones, MS, Show Host, Historical Kinesiologist, Physical Educator
