The death of a family member can have a profound and long-lasting impact on the entire family. However, there is one member of the mourning family that is often forgotten or ignored as being a grieving person and that is the siblings of the deceased. Siblings grieve each other in some different ways than they grieve other family member’s deaths. The death of your sibling may receive little social acknowledgement, but the death can affect you in many ways. This stems from the special roles’ siblings play in our development and the need to cope with the ambivalence that marks most sibling relationships at some point in their history.
