Last Friday, during our ninth WePause Weekly session, Stephanie Pereira Lima hosted an inspiring gathering for our community. I (Ali, your host) almost missed the session due to a hectic flight from the West Coast to the East Coast, but thanks to my amazing friends who picked me up from the airport and set everything up, I made it on time. I'm incredibly grateful for their help.
Stephanie started by sharing her stressful experiences working in the corporate world in NYC. Then she led us through a breathwork session with a soothing playlist. We practiced the three-part breath (deep inhale into the belly, another into the chest, then an exhale with back pressure) and box breathing, which we also explored in the sixth episode of The Ally Show with Bakari Holmes.
The session was quite emotional for me—maybe due to the travel stress or the events of the past week—but when Stephanie asked us to think about what we're grateful for, my mind went straight to my family and friends, who always support me. After the session, I felt so energized that I headed downstairs and enjoyed an amazing weekend with my friends in Toronto.
