In this episode I speak to Dr Karen Parkhill about the different reactions the unfolding climate crisis has provoked across communities and governments and explore the fundamental role technology can play in both deepening and responding to the crisis. We also dig into the power of individual and community action, and contrast that with larger-scale, national and international approaches, including geoengineering.

Karen is a lecturer in human geography at The University of York. Her research interests span energy geographies and geographies of risk. She uses qualitative methods to explore how the public engages with/resists notions of low carbon lifestyles and low carbon transitions, including examining how they themselves consume and perceive energy.
