Did you know that perfectionism can actually stand in the way of your happiness and success? If you, like me, struggle with the constant need to be better, do more, and achieve more, then this episode is for you. Let’s work on this together.
What’s the one thing you’re always pushing yourself to improve and constantly criticizing yourself for not achieving yet? Is it a skill, your profession, your romantic relationship, your health, or your eating habits? Or maybe it’s everything all at once?
In this episode, I dive into my personal journey of daily growth through meditation, journaling, and listening to podcasts from many teachers. I’m very attentive to how I feel, think, speak to others, and the mental state in which I do things. My goal is to stay in a beautiful, positive state.
Do you know how to raise your vibrations? Do you have tools to bring yourself back to a beautiful state? What do you do when your energy level is low, and you want to shift back to positive feelings?
For me, listening to joyful music works wonders. Just a minute of it clears my mood, making me feel more positive. Uplifting self-talk is another powerful tool. I remind myself of all the wonderful things in my life: my sons, my parents, my home, my garden, my cats.
But as a perfectionist, I always crave more of these beautiful states. I want to feel those high vibrations longer and act from that positive state to see everything fall into place in my life. However, when I lose track and start criticizing myself over something small, it often spirals into a longer period of negative self-talk. I don’t want this anymore, and I’m sure you don’t either.
So, let’s work on this together. What question can you ask yourself, or what can you tell yourself to stop going down the rabbit hole of self-blame? We need new habits to create a new identity that allows us to accept our imperfections.
For example, consider the cost of self-blame. It steals your joy, happiness, and peace. It poisons your life and the lives of those around you. Do you really want this? Of course not. You want to be a positive role model for your children, a joyful friend, and a supportive coworker.
To break free from self-blame, I focus on my heart and breathe consciously. This simple exercise brings me back to the present moment, filling me with joy and peace.
