Goals are important. They help us set our sights on what's next and make sure that we're not letting anything stop or distract from our achievements. When we set a goal, there’s a process we take to prioritize and work towards it. We ask ourselves questions like, ‘is this a long-term or short-term goal? Is it realistic? What steps are needed to accomplish it?’ These are all things we consider assuming we are healthy and physically able to take the necessary actions to achieve our goals throughout the year. But how does a seriously injured individual approach setting goals, adjust to changing circumstances, and find the motivation needed to heal and move forward?
After surviving a tragic motor vehicle accident while deployed in Germany, Army veteran Candice Caesar’s life changed in an instant. Her doctor told her she would never walk again. Since then, she's become a marathoner, triathlete, archer, and Speech Language Pathologist. Candice’s journey is an inspiring example of what one person can accomplish when they have the will and determination to overcome any obstacle in their path.
