Manage episode 428381143 series 3557395
Welcome to the Cancer Support Suffolk podcast. In this episode we talk about skin cancer with Jo Kirby from ESNEFT, a skin cancer nurse, and Sue Roberts, who went on her own journey with a melanoma. You can also hear Sue chat about her support group she was asked to put together using her own experience.
Jo is key at supporting patients through the whole cancer journey from diagnosis and emotional support to arranging hospital appointments.
A melanoma is the 5th most diagnosed cancer, and if caught early it is very treatable, so early detection by checking yourself regularly is paramount.
Listen to their tips and advice on prevention by staying out of the sun and keeping up with the vitamin D supplements..... the message is check yourself and slip-slap-slop and put a hat on!
Also hear Jo chat about the incredible treatments we have today for skin cancer and what may come in the future.
Thank you Jo and Sue for joining us.
