What Must I Do To Obtain Eternal Life
Manage episode 389793911 series 2929394
"What must I do [for eternal life]?"
How readest thou?"
Jesus answers the question like no modern preachers or evangelists.
"Keep the commandments."
"…this do and thou shalt live…" Jesus said.
If we could keep the two commandments 1) Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and strength; and 2) Love your neighbor as yourself; there would have been no reason for JESUS to come. The ten commandments are a gift to us for the purpose of regeneration. We can keep the ten commandments. This prerequisite allows the indwelling of the Spirit of God for internal guidance. Going God's way opens the door to acquire the power to become Sons of God. This grace is not a free gift. We must lay down our life and follow Jesus - to the end.

58: The Parable Of The Good Samaritan
Luke 10:25-37
The Parable Of The Good Samaritan
A Lawyer asked Jesus:
“Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
Jesus answered with a question, saying:
“What is written in the law? How readest thou?”
The lawyer replied:
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.”
Jesus said to the lawyer:
“Thou hast answered right. This do, and thou shalt live.”
Then the lawyer asked:
“Who is my neighbor?”
Jesus answered with a parable, saying:
“A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, ‘Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.’ Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?”
The lawyer replied to Jesus:
“He that showed mercy on him.”
Jesus replied:
"Go, and do thou likewise."
