Stumpy the Four Legged Duck
Manage episode 341140442 series 3277351
Stumpy is a White Pekin duck born at the Warrawee Duck Farm in Hampshire, England on 7th February 2007. He was born with a rare mutation that left him with four legs - two legs tucked behind the two he walked about on.
The mutation is down to a condition called Polymelia. Polymelia can occur when an embryo started as conjoined twin, but one twin degenerated completely except for one or more limbs, which end up attached to the other twin. This is what gave Stumpy his extra two legs.
