E062 - The Human CDJ w/Allen Aucoin - Drummer Allen Aucoin returns to the podcast for a wide-ranging interview about the latest evolution of The Disco Biscuits' sound. Allen shares the details of the fitness regimen that keeps him in tip-top shape, the meditation practice that keeps his mind quiet and clear, and the electronic drum sounds that have propelled Tractorbeam Mk3. There are lots of big reveals in this one, including the source of Allen's signature "thirst quencher" samples, the female pop superstar he'd like the band to cover, and the new instrument that he's recently picked up. But most of all, it's an opportunity for Allen to reflect on why 2024 has been, in his words, "the best it's ever been since I've been in the band." This week, Max is joined by Mark Filorama, the director of the Ross Street School Choir, whose recent performance of Marc Brownstein's "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a" has caused a sensation in the jamband world.
