October brings one of the most popular annual community events. Even for the non-runners, the Twyford Charity 5K and Fun Run promises a great morning out, with activities for all ages, plenty of stalls and refreshments and the opportunity to support those taking part.
The races start with the 'pre-school toddle', followed by several more children's races by age group, ending with the chip-timed, multi-terrain 5km run, which offers prizes to not only individual winners but also the Fastest Street, Fastest Family, Fastest Business/Club/Society and a Have-A-Go-Hero.
This year's event is the 10th organised by Twyford Together, with the racing side of things looked after by Barnes Fitness.
Stallholders include the event sponsor, Castle Royle Golf & Country Club, along with initiatives such as Twyford Together's Go Greener Together and local organisations including Twyford Comets Football Club and the Twyford & Ruscombe Horticultural Association. There's also a chance to have a go on the smoothie-making bike Pedalicious on the My Journey Wokingham stall, have your own bicycle checked by Dr Bike, and shop at Maya's Refillables.
