I really don't think its possible to have the life changing event of becoming disabled or being diagnosed with an illness happen to you and there not be trauma that's created from that. Becoming disabled shocked me into trauma and i spent a decade after the event unbeknown to me being left stunned locked in it. With no real guidance or help while constantly building and adding more stress and trauma into the mix. It wasn't until i had built that much on top of myself and i got hit with PTSD from another event that this initial becoming disabled trauma was ever even looked at, addressed and also realised. And i wonder for how many of us that trauma has got us locked in and controlled by and we don't even know it.
So in this episode i discuss my own personal journey with regards to trauma living alongside my disability. I highlight ways in which to work on recognising and addressing pain and trauma within yourself. Many trauma based topics get flung on the table for discussion such as pain, loneliness, trauma inflicted by others, drowning in unanswerable questions the list goes on. In this episode i also help to recommend ways in which to navigate healthily exploring your own trauma and more importantly give you the heads up on what to expect and look out for when you do open up to your trauma, because things can get.... weird. And last but not least discuss once its faced how you evolve and grow from it while finding meaning in the brutalities you faced.
Suppressed trauma will always come out especially when its as powerful and mighty as trauma created by becoming disabled, cause that trauma is volcanic believe me !. But when you flip the script on trauma and instead of having it control you, you control it. The possibilities of what you can achieve and create are endless because there's nothing but absolute power behind it all.
