DITAJA
In 2010, Samantha was diagnosed with endometriosis after years of "painful periods" through laparoscopic surgery using the ablation (burning) technique. Since then, she has had five more surgeries, which include having a complete hysterectomy as well as her appendix and gallbladder removed. She tried birth controls, Lupron, diet changes, bioidentical hormones, pelvic floor physical therapy, but her ovary pain remained. This led her to make the difficult decision to have a hysterectomy at 23 years old with no children. Along with endometriosis, she has also been diagnosed with osteoporosis, irritable bowel syndrome, polycystic ovary syndrome, vitamin d deficiency, and interstitial cystitis.
Samantha Bowick, MPH is a patient advocate for endometriosis and the author of "Living with Endometriosis: The Complete Guide to Risk Factors, Symptoms, and Treatment Options". She has started her own business: Chronic Illness Support in hopes to help others who suffer with endometriosis and other chronic illnesses by providing education, awareness, and natural supplementation. She is a patient ambassador with the Chronic Disease Coalition and has written articles for Hormones Matter, 30Seconds, and Get Fit Now. Samantha is also working with other Endo sisters to help spread awareness through different projects.
