James George is a thinker, researcher, teacher, and architect. He studied architecture at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria before going on to become Head of Design at Design Union, Nigeria.
Currently, he is the Head of Design of HTL where his immediate focus is on Innovative Sustainable Solutions and Future African Cities. He is a nominee for the prestigious Rolex Mentor & Protege Arts Initiative.
His current interests revolve around the multi-layering of city space and how the infrastructure of the city can be invaded and interrupted with architecture. His ongoing series of lectures-: Towards A New Core will deal with the creation of a tabula rasa in his native Africa that can serve as a springboard for the creation of a new African architecture.
We sat with him for an hour to talk about everything from his upbringing, education at ABU, Zaria and practicing Architecture in Nigeria.
Enjoy!
