Transkript: Was ist ein Geschenk? Ein Geschenk ist etwas, das man einer anderen Person gibt. Es gibt viele unterschiedliche Geschenke. Ein Geschenk kann eine Sache sein. Eine Sache ist zum Beispiel ein Buch. Oder eine Sache ist zum Beispiel ein Schuh. Ein Geschenk kann aber auch eine Aktion sein. Eine Aktion ist zum Beispiel ein Konzert. Man kann auch einen Gutschein schenken. Es gibt viele viele unterschiedliche Geschenke.
Aber wann schenkt man Geschenke? Es gibt viele unterschiedliche Anlässe für Geschenke. Man schenkt zum Beispiel, wenn jemand Geburtstag hat. Oder wenn jemand heiratet. Dann gibt es eine Hochzeit. Außerdem gibt es an Weihnachten Geschenke. Wie heute. Weihnachten ist ein sehr wichtiges Fest in Deutschland. Aber wann an Weihnachten gibt es Geschenke? In Deutschland gibt es abends am 24. Dezember Geschenke. Der 24. Dezember ist der Heilige Abend. Am Heiligen Abend gibt es normalerweise ein Essen und danach ist die Familie zusammen beim Weihnachtsbaum. Der Weihnachtsbaum ist sehr schön. Der Weihnachtsbaum hat Lichter und Dekorationen. Die Geschenke liegen unter dem Weihnachtsbaum. Oder der Weihnachtsmann kommt und bringt die Geschenke. Meistens hat der Weihnachtsmann die Geschenke in einem Sack. Der Weihnachtsmann fragt dann die Kinder: „Habt ihr Euch dieses Jahr gut benommen?“ Manchmal müssen die Kinder dann ein Gedicht aufsagen. Dann bekommen sie die Geschenke. Vor allem für die Kinder ist das sehr schön und sehr aufregend!
Das Schenken ist eine sehr schöne Sache. Es ist nicht wichtig, dass viel geschenkt wird. Es ist auch nicht wichtig, dass das Geschenk teuer ist. Wichtig ist, dass das Geschenk von Herzen kommt. Von Herzen kommen heißt, dass man an die Person gedacht hat. Und dass man die Person mag. Also: Frohe Weihnachten an Euch alle! Und Einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr!

Transcript: What's a gift? A gift is something you give to another person. There are many different gifts. A gift can be one thing. For example, one thing is a book. A gift can also be an action. An action is, for example, a concert. You can also give a gift voucher. There are many different gifts.
But when do you give presents? There are many different occasions for gifts. For example, you give gifts when it's someone's birthday. Or if someone gets married. Then there's a wedding. There are also presents at Christmas. Christmas is a very important holiday in Germany. But when do you get presents at Christmas? In Germany there are gifts in the evening on 24 December. December 24th is Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve there is a dinner and after that the family is together at the Christmas tree. The Christmas tree is very beautiful. The Christmas tree has lights and decorations. The presents are under the Christmas tree. Or Santa Claus will come and bring the presents. Most of the time, Santa has the presents in a bag. Santa then asks the children: “Have you behaved well this year?” Sometimes the children have to recite a poem. Then they get the presents. Especially for the children it is very nice and very exciting!
Giving is a very beautiful thing. It is not important that much is given. It is also not important that the gift is expensive. The important thing is that the gift comes from the heart. Coming from the heart means that you have thought of the person. And that you like the person. So, Merry Christmas to you all! And Happy New Year! (a good slide into the New Year)
