Instead, he recommends that players consider the overhead to be similar to but not identical to a service move. The goal is to get the racket into the hitting position as soon and efficiently as feasible.

Coach Ben provides a simple analogy to help players understand the proper technique: "Answer the phone." He says players should visualize putting their racket exactly at their ear, like they would when answering a phone, as soon as the ball is in the air. This positions the racket well for an excellent overhead shot.

This tip is intended to assist players shorten their backswing and get into a hitting stance faster, resulting in more successful overhead shots. Coach Ben recommends that players use this strategy the next time they're on the court.
