This week House republicans elected a new Speaker--and he was one of the intellectual leaders of the Jan. 6th insurrection. His name is Mike Johnson and he likes to pray for people. Mike Johnson led the charge in an amicus brief demanding that the Electoral College results be tossed. He has sponsored legislation which would grant legal impunity to businesses and groups who discriminate against the LGBTQ community--on the grounds of religious 'liberty.' In short, Mike Johnson represents the rebranding of fascism--with a smiley face. This story is truly about the schism which occurs when one alleged right clashes with the rights of others.
