Celsius Resources signs MoA with TESDA to boost local skills for MCB Project

Celsius Resources Ltd (ASX:CLA, AIM, CLA) executive director Mark van Kerkwijk joins Proactive’s Tylah Tully to discuss the latest progress by the company in the Philippines. Celsius’ Philippine affiliate, Makilala Mining Company Inc. (MMCI), has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to enhance local workforce skills for the Maalinao-Caigutan-Biyog (MCB) Copper-Gold Project. The agreement, signed on October 3, 2024, focuses on providing practical skills training to community members in preparation for the project’s early construction and operations, expected to begin this year. TESDA’s mandate to develop a skilled workforce aligns with MMCI’s goal of empowering local communities and fostering long-term economic growth. The Community-Based Skills Training Program will prioritise construction skills, including carpentry, masonry, welding and plumbing, to meet the requirements of the MCB Project. MMCI and TESDA will jointly develop a work plan to ensure efficient implementation. The MCB Project, located in the Cordillera Administrative Region, is expected to have a 25-year mine life and significant economic potential, with an updated mineral resource estimate in 2022 indicating 338 million tonnes at 0.47% copper and 0.12 g/t gold.
