We begin the show discussing the results from Masters 1000 event Madrid. In the men's draw, Alcaraz defends his title just as he did in Barcelona against a surprise finalist, the Lucky Loser Jean Leonard Struff. On the women's draw we got a rematch of the Stuttgart final from a few weeks ago between Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka, and this time it is Aryna Sabalenka who takes the title, her second Madrid win.
We discuss notable players who had really good tournaments, including 16 year old Mirra Andreeva, chinese star Zhizhen Zhang, and a surprising return to form from Aslan Karatsev. We also dive into the cake-gate controversy and the decision from the tournament to not let the women's doubles champions and runner ups to have a speech during the trophy ceremony.
We also preview the draw for the Masters 1000 event in Rome! We go quarter by quarter discussing the most notable match-ups, and we give our predictions from the quarterfinals onwards.
At the end of the show, we do some Rome related Trivia! Listen to the end to see if you can get more correct answers than our host Jishnu!
