One World in a New World with Julie Kratz - Author & Chief Engagement Officer, Next Pivot Point

At 8, Julie heard a riddle that presented a stark difference in what she considered to be normal. She speaks to how her home life affected her world view and started her quest toward diversity and inclusion activities.

How cognizant are we of what is happening around us? How do we process the self-awareness of developing the 'radar' Julie speaks of in the growth and understanding of life. How much of your language do you 'genderize' in your conversations? Can you change it to be inclusive?

How often do you pay attention to your language? Are you observant and able to monitor the pre-thinking of what you are about to say? Do you hit the pause button first? Are you aware of the micro-expressions Julie mentions? The blame and shame game is still prevalent. How do we change that?

Julie posits we still live largely in a competitive framework that holds a scarcity mindset. How might we change that to a thriving mind flow instead? What are the micro-expressions that bind us, still?

Is it surprising that the rate of burnout is so high with people who work in the diversity and inclusion fields? How can the 'freshness' of the excitement in service be retained? Julie mentions there is nothing innate in our biology that we are in any way 'against' each other, yet our society promotes a different message. How do we unlearn what we've been taught?

We dip into talking about history. It's obvious today that history is incorrect, or at least marginalized to a great extent. Victors and the wealthy controllers of the media flow in its myriad forms still write history. Even doing our own research may not be enough, though it does bring questions about the truth of it.

How might we see things differently in life in order to provide a more positive impact for ourselves and others? Julie feels engaging young people in the conversation is more important today, not to diminish the importance of older others. The hard-wiring of of our brains is still malleable in younger generations as well.

There's much more valuable information shared in this apocalyptic chat. It's all about the questions we ask and the conversations we have that make a difference in the world, one at a time.
