The Georgia Court of Appeals on May 8 agreed to review the decision a trial court judge issued that allowed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to stay on the high-profile case against former President Donald Trump—as long as she took a special prosecutor off the case to avoid the appearance of impropriety. President Trump and eight codefendants that sought review will have 10 days to file their appeal. The court’s decision to hear the appeal before trial could cause further delays in the case.
In President Trump’s classified documents case brought by special counsel Jack Smith, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon reset deadlines on May 7, blowing past the original May 20 trial date with pretrial deadlines running through July. Judge Cannon did not set a new trial date in the order, saying she found it premature.
A Biden administration official has confirmed that the United States held up a shipment of over three-thousand bombs to Israel last week. This is reportedly over concerns that they might have been used in the Rafah operation, which the United States opposes. The official said the bombs could have an impact in dense urban settings. The Israeli military appeared to respond, saying, "When there are disputes, and there are, they are being resolved behind closed doors in a matter-of-fact way."
