On bravery and boundaries with Kate Toon [Summer Series]
Manage episode 350702731 series 3344406
Over the Australian summer break, I’m bringing you five of your favourite episodes from the past 12 months. This time it’s my frank and honest chat with digital entrepreneur Kate Toon.
Listening back to this conversation recently, there are a few things that really stand out to me that I want to hone in on:
The first is that it’s ok to keep on keeping on. For instance, if you’ve had a year of building, is next year time to focus on consolidation?
Another important thing Kate shares, is the need for us to lean into acceptance and self-compassion. She asks the question, what can you say ‘not now’ to? That every ‘yes’ you say, is a ‘no’ to something else?
The final thing I want to mention is the redefining of what success and productivity looks like. Kate reveals her measures for these - and also how they’ve evolved over time.
Here’s a little reflection for you to ponder as you listen to this episode - What are your success metrics when it comes to work and life? Is it being able to step away from work for a couple of decent blocks each year? Is it finding time to prioritise your physical and mental wellbeing? It is the number of clients you’re impacting? There’s no wrong answer - it’s what feels right to you.
Enjoy the episode and I hope you’re enjoying some down time. I’m hanging out with my family and friends, and back on deck from the 9th Jan.
A little reminder my group program the CCC is kicking off for the next round on Feb 10. The best way to find out when the doors are open is by signing up for my emails. You can do that on the HP of my website emmmamcmillancopy.com or by downloading one of the resources on my free resources page.
Enjoy my conversation with Kate - and I’ll be back in your ears again soon.
This podcast is produced by Emma McMillan & Sarah Harney.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which I record this podcast, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nations and honour their deep language and storytelling traditions. I pay my respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
