Join us-hear from Ashanti Martin- Ashanti Martin is a co-founder of Where Is My Land, an organization launched in 2021 to help Black American families reclaim stolen land and secure restitution. Ashanti joined forces with Kavon Ward, whose activism led to the first instance of land returned to a Black family in Manhattan Beach, California. Together, Ashanti and Kavon are pursuing the return of land to Black Americans nationally.
Ashanti is an experienced writer, journalist, and marketing strategist who has been featured on NPR, Forbes, NBC News, Marketplace, and Atlanta Black Star.
Ashanti published a groundbreaking article in The New York Times in 2020 that galvanized a movement to redefine and celebrate Black professionalism and creativity in the workplace. She is also host of the podcast EdUp Explained, which focuses on critical thinking and showcases an eclectic mix of guests and topics. Ashanti has more than 15 years of experience in higher education communications at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and Rutgers University. She resides in Philadelphia and is a graduate of Rutgers University's School of Communication and Information.
