×We have some Teutons in MLPP Towers this week, namely, Stuttgart's punk rock heroes, Snackwolf! We underscore the point around "roman salutes", discuss a near miss in the mountains near Austria, hear about their upcoming dates with some Dutch friends of the show and of course, we get the story around the band motto: SUPPORT BAND FOREVER. Tom has a gig report from South Yorkshire, Niallism has an action packed update for you and both of your hosts mug each other off as you've come to expect. Music this week is by: Tearjerker, Novacane, Rant and the frenzy of tongs.…
We have all things Ohio covered this week as we welcome Shannon off Bandages, an emerging band that became a success by accident. We get a first hand account of what our colonial cousins' election result has been so far, we chat about our inability to comprehend long distances and we talk about songs that write themselves. All this and much more is inside your favourite serious music journalism podcast! Tom reveals perhaps the biggest F**king Disgrace we've had so far, Niallism tells a tale of tenacity, survival and flying ham after surviving a storm and he has a new insult for Tom. Songs this week are courtesy of: The Adverts, The Let Me Downs, The Dickies, Pears and Serial Pest.…
Tom's been on his travels to beautiful new town and Diesel City, Peterborough. No, he hadn't forgot his passport, he was asked to report on East Angrier X (put on by Socks On Records). He gathered people under Tom's chatting tree at the back of the closed-down Debenhams to conduct micro-interviews with some of the artistes performing, provides in-depth analysis of the bands' performances and if you listen, you can hear the effect of the Rattler venom that he's infected with a little bit more each interview. I guarantee that when East Angrier XI gets advertised, you'll all be jumping for joy. Songs are from: Our Souls, Das Kapitans, Sprainer, Rudimentary Paste, MICES and Spoilers.…
It's returning guests this week, Blagged (formerly The Mustard) are back! Manchester is their home and NOFX-y 90s inspired melodic skatepunk is their game. We get the lowdown on their first release, their new bass player (who is an MLPP veteran) and we get the full story around THAT name change. We discuss the outcome of our "are the Proclaimers punk?" debate, Niall finally tells all about the day his butt exploded 5 years ago and Tom kicks off with a moan. Music to accompany the moaning this week is from: Random Heroes, Jack Adamant, Descendents, Pat Decline and Big Fuckin Skull.…

We've doubled the guest capacity at MLPP Towers this week as we welcome not one, but TWO bands in for a chat. Namely, Das Kapitans and MICES. These Peterborough (Diesel City) and Norwich pop groups are releasing a split EP on Valentine's Day and they wanted to give you a taster. We cover Norfolk slang terms, Norwich's traffic calming measures, appropriate times to wear ladies' tights, appropriate times to play with ladies' tights and of course we get an early look at their upcoming all-dayer (which features both bands), East Angrier X. Tom tells us about his write-off of a weekend, Niall's activity levels hit new heights and of course we've both chosen some songs to entertain you with. Music is from: The Sect, Splitbox, Snuff, Off With Their Heads and Growing Pains…
It's 2025, so Happy New Year! Our first guest of 2025 is the ivory ticklin', vocalizin' journalistin' Vez off X-Ray Vez (and Wonk Unit)! We discuss the urge for her to step out as a solo artist, dating apps, attractive food mascots, being cat-called, dick pics and of course what happens when someone dicks about with their keyboard before lending it to you. Tom and Niallism share your new year's resolutions (as well as our own), we give you a heads up about two MLPP LIVE events that you can attend and Niall gives us the culinary rundown of what's hot and what's not ahead of a vegan Burns' night. Music for you this time is from: Born Shit Stirrers, The Scoffs, Syndrome 81, W.O.R.M and The Meat Sweaters.…

Happy New Year one and all! What better way to bin off the old year than by remembering some stuff about it and discussing it with your mates? Tom, Niallism and guest discusser Danny Barrett off The Crash Mats have painstakingly remembered 2024 and have each chosen their top song, top gig and top album of last year. Without giving too much away, music this week/year comes from: Fucked Up, White Trash Two Theys & a Jock, Dead Wet Things, Incisions, Clayface, Frenzal Rhomb, Fast Blood, The Dopamines and The Zatopeks.…
Sunderland's hardest men, Dead Wet Things, have overpowered security at MLPP Towers this week. It's the perfect way to kick off your Christmas break! Their origin story is as interesting as their songs, their sound is not what you'd call "traditional" punk, but we love 'em anyway! Join us as we hear about their way of dealing with rude ex-members, get an insight into the Mackem diet, get all the details about their lyrics and their outlook on life. Niall has a gig report for you all, we offer some helpful grammatical advice to people and we hear what Niallism's up to for the next festive fortnight. Music comes from: Get The F Outta Dodge, The Bucky Bombs, Common Rider, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes and Tongue Party.…
Lock up your stottie cakes, 'cause this week we're joined by Newcastle's very own Fast Blood. Well, we're joined by 50% of the band (and 50% of its Daves): Davey the drummer and Abi the vocalist. We discuss retro computer games (bonus points if you spot the hidden game theme music), when things started going down hill in the world, irritating pets, riots, our home towns and of course we squeeze in a bit of chat about their band. Niallism's off at a pop concert this week so Tom has soldiered on ably assisted by Danny Barrett off The Crash Mats. We talk bad santas, unserious music journalists, offer advice to some social anxiety sufferers and get a gig report from Robin Hood's Bay. Tuneful offerings this week come courtesy of: Reason To Leave, Popclaw, Panda Lasagne, Mean Jeans and Fucked Up…

Us and Punk Rock Elite Podcast put together a tribute to NOFX's Punk in Drublic album to commemorate its 30th anniversary. It's all for charity, so get it bought, In order to breakdown and dissect this musical monolith, we've recruited the beast from the North East, Mick off Tearjerker, to do just that. Listen in and be amazed at the variety on the comp, the sterling effort all bands have put in and be double amazed at the articulate way we describe the songs. Which one of us has a secret musical theatre background? Which band inadvertently gets accused of living in a dingy basement? Just what is a "laid back night venue"? The only way to find out is by giving this a spin! Musical Contributions are from: The Punk Cellist, Get The F Outta Dodge, Heligan, Tearjerker, Blagged, The Crash Mats, Loudmouth, White Trash, Two Theys and a Jock, Eat Defeat, Pat Decline, Zero Cost, Graham Aspinall, The Disposables, Hike The Peak, The Latchkey Kids, Austerity Dogs, Noah Skape, Bad Milk Blood Robot, Emilie Plamondon and Making Friends.…
Release Day is here and we are all as amazed as anyone! We have a full play through of one of the tracks too! Band camp link: https://midlifeelite.bandcamp.com/album/a-tribute-to-punk-in-drublic Link to liner notes: https://punkrockelitepodcast.co.uk/punk-in-drublic-tribute
What better way to usher in St Andrew's Day than with cosmopolitan Glaswegians, Low Level Monk! Here at MLPP we've been instantly hooked on their melodies and pumped up by their mid-life angst and we hope that you'll like 'em too! We discuss cover bands, tribute bands, long back syndrome, day drinking over night drinking, the current crop of Caledonian punk bands and much more besides. Tom has a gig report featuring former guests, Niall has the Scottish weather update and we once again attempt to unpack the upcoming nuclear holocaust. Happy St Andrew's Day, everybody. Music this week is courtesy of: The Troops, Discharge, Blitz, The Real McKenzies and Propagandhi.…

It's something a bit different this week as we're joined by Morgan off Down & Outs and Pardon Us....but not as you know him! We discuss his genre-combo inspiration, the potential for fans to take it the wrong way and the special back-stories created for each artists change of direction. No matter how your year's been, Glasgow's Bad Year will certainly improve it. Chris, the band's singing bass player, joins us to discuss their latest release "Moancore".
