Forests and the future with Craig Beatty
Manage episode 407456179 series 3560419
Craig Beatty is the manager of the forest strategy and research at WWF-US. In this position, he provides technical and scientific leadership to the organization’s major forest initiatives. His work includes helping lead the development of a corporate framework for setting science-based targets for nature; creating methods and tools to estimate conservation and restoration impact; and exploring the role forests play in human health.
I am a huge believer in the need to protect forests. First, the value they provide humans is enormous. But, I am also very troubled by the fact that we as a species have so little regard for nature, for our own good, sure, but also as the home of many of our fellow earth dwellers. So, talking to the folks at WWF of late has been a great pleasure as the work they and others, like SBTN, are doing is critical.
Craig and I talked about his work with SBTN and the work being done to support companies on their path to make commitments to nature-based solutions and targets. It was a great conversation.
