This work of culinary fiction is the second in a series about French chef Sophie Valroux, but you don’t need to have read the first book to enjoy this one. In this one, she’s cooking and running the restaurant at a Chateau she inherited from her grandmother. She has a fiancee, and is getting to know his daughter better. She gets the opportunity to cook at an exclusive event that her culinary idol will be attending. But then she falls, and gets injured, and loses her sense of smell and taste. She doesn’t tell anyone, and tries “fake it til you make it” for that event. If you’re a foodie, you’ll likely enjoy the food references and the French countryside setting.
