Kurthas & Bindis: Exploring Gender Identity in the South Asian Community
Manage episode 320700573 series 3223099
Gender expression is often attributed to what we wear, how we speak, and how we carry ourselves. In many cultures around the globe, gender identity and sexuality are both incredibly stigmatized. This week, we continued the discussion surrounding LGBTQ+ voices in the Desi community. We spoke to Nova (@spacelordnova) about gender identity, sexuality within the context of the South Asian nuclear family unit, and how cisgender and straight individuals can move towards active allyship. From normalizing introducing ourselves with our pronouns, educating ourselves, and opening our wallets to donate to reputable and ethical funds, we can support members of the LGBTQ+ community.
