College Football analyst Josh Pate from 247Sports and CBS has hinted at something big happening soon with the ACC. Pate sent an X post with the GIF of the infamous cup of water in Jurassic Park with ACC as the caption. A commenter asked him if expansion was coming, to which he responded, “the league is about to do the opposite of that.” Is he implying that Florida State or Clemson are about to get out? Both schools are currently suing the ACC in an attempt to break the grant of rights and exit the conference. The Attorney General of Florida is fighting to force the conference to reveal their TV agreements as public records, while ESPN argues they contain trade secrets and cannot be made fully public.

Meanwhile, the Big 12 is looking to sell naming rights to their conference to a corporate sponsor. They could drop the word “Big” and become the AllState 12. Should the ACC look to do something similar for a low risk cash infusion? The Big 12 is also looking to sell 15 to 20% of their conference to a Private Equity form. Donno and Gibbs feel this might be too risky of an avenue for the ACC to explore.
