This week, Ira spoke with Linda Ambrus Broenniman, author of The Politzer Saga. In this researched episode of “Ira’s Everything Bagel,” Linda talks about the story of the box with documents that survived a house fire and led to finding out her Catholic father was Jewish ; her quest going back eight generations; why the documents were written in Hungarian; finding the right person to help her, which turned out to be Andras Gyekiczki a Hungarian sociologist and lawyer; being surprised at what she found; why she had never intended to write a book; how she organized and contained the material; by writing it, it made her ancestors come alive; the reaction of her family to her research; and why her mother, who was Catholic, was an honoree in Israel at Yad Vashem.
