Your Heard Tell Show for Monday, November 6th, 2023 is turning down the noise of the news cycle and getting to the information we need to discern our times by taking the entirety of today's program to talk about mental health. Our friend Dr. Katie Gordon returns to guide us through how our news media and social media not only affects our mental health, but how being serious about our mental health means being aware and curating your feeds, how to process big and emotional world events and news headlines in a healthy way, and why having broad perspective keeps everything in perspective to be productive members of society. Also, Dr. Gordon talks about her work in suicide prevention, her book on the subject, and practical ways you can not only help but maybe save someone else's life in a crisis situation. Then, since in her own media and work Dr. Gordon talks about examples in pop culture, as we have some fun going through some of the biggest stories and headlines in culture this year and ask if they are good or bad for our mental health in everything from "nepo babies" to Harry & Meghan to Taylor Swift coverage. Serious topics, grown folk talk about difficult subjects, but also some fun as we take time out to focus on mental health.
