Yesterday was my birthday and even though it was a lovely day, it was quite ordinary. I was completely fine with my birthday being just like any other average day, but I kept feeling this nagging shame about it. I kept having the thought that it should be more special, more fun. As I followed this line of thought I realized something very interesting. I wasn’t sad about my uneventful birthday, I was sad about what other people would think about my uneventful birthday. Isn’t that fascinating?
So, as you go about your normal days, and your special days, even your birthdays, remember to focus on how you feel about it and what other people will think about it.
