Certified personal trainer and senior fitness specialist Emily Johnston joins the owner and CEO Jim Aneszko to discuss the importance of both cardio and strength training as we age. Although no amount of physical activity can stop the biological aging process, there is evidence that regular exercise can minimize the physiological effects of an otherwise sedentary lifestyle and increase active life expectancy. Interview includes the popularity of functional strength mixed with cardio and strength training to minimize falls with improved balance and mobility important for aging well in place. Emily also shares her passion for working with small classes and creating an exercise plan for older adults, making it easy to make a lasting commitment to fitness regardless of age.
