Today I'm in a celebratory mood because I've just hit the Big 1-4 in business. Yep, 14 years in business today - 14 years of being my own boss and riding the crazy, rewarding, life changing small business rollercoaster. . I think it's super important to celebrate these milestones because so many business owners don't reach them .. and I'm talking about celebrating every single business birthday. So if you're coming up to your first year, or your 20th or 30th year, and everything in between, I encourage you to reflect on what you've learned, what you've achieved, what you're proud of, and what you want to take forward - and ditch - in the years ahead. . And that's why I like to do these video's and podcasts on my business birthday's because I want to share my lessons and learnings with you, and it's also a good reflective exercise for me that helps me move forward into the next 12 months and beyond. . So today I'm sharing with you 14 hard from my 14 years in business, and if you'd like to watch the live recording of this show or grab the show notes go to: www.busybusinesswomen.biz/podcast67 . Happy Biz-Birthday To Me! . Enjoy, Faye X…

I'm back from my podcast hiatus! Yep, I know - it's been a loooooong time between podcast episodes! But in case you missed the memo, I've been busy battling childhood cancer with my 10 year old daughter Charli - and it's been full on to say the least! But this podcast isn't about all-things-childhood-cancer because you can follow our story over on our Shine Like Charli channels on Facebook and Instagram for those insights. In this episode I want to share with you the lessons I've learned as an Oncology Mum that have overhauled the way I do business today - lessons that you can only get if you've been down the cancer path. Which I don't want you to ever have to, so today you get the powerful insights without the painful process... Podcast Show Notes: www.busybusineswomen.biz/podcast64 It's good to be back! Faye X…

Today I'm celebrating 13 years of making mistakes in business, whoop whoop! Yep, thirteen years ago it was just little old me in my one bedroom apartment (single, footloose and fancy free... but that's another story!), feeling stoked that I had no-one to answer to other than myself. I also had absolutely no idea what I was doing; zero clients on my books; and no plan on how I was going to replace my corporate income and pay the rent... Which seems completely laughable now! Thankfully I ignored my boss at the time who warned me against going solo; and with bucketloads of hope and a very delusional mind, I surged forward proud as punch that I could say I was my own boss - something I had wanted for SO damn long. A lot has gone wrong during those years, and I've never hidden the fact that my business very nearly folded in the early days. So as you can imagine I've learned a lot during that time, so in this episode I'm sharing with you 13 quick standout lessons that I reckon have made a big difference to the way I feel about my business and the results I've achieved. Show Notes: https://busybusinesswomen.biz/podcast63 Enjoy! Faye X…

You wanna be as productive as possible when you're working, right? Of course you do, otherwise you're wasting your most valuable asset - time. And if you've followed me for a 'lil while, you already know that I looooove talking about time management, but there's one angle when it comes to productivity that doesn't come up much. So today I'm tackling this topic - and it's one that makes SO many people run for the hills or roll their eyes into the back of their heads. Which means I'm setting you a challenge today: stick with this episode! It's short and sweet, and a total game changer if you implement what I'm talking about. Show Notes: http://busybusinesswomen.biz/podcast62 Enjoy! Faye X…

I used to think that if I wanted something enough in my business I could just whip out the willpower and, with enough grit and determination, I'd achieve it. I was very wrong! Contrary to popular belief, willpower isn't sitting in a tap ready to gush out whenever you want or need it - so in this short 'n sweet episode we dive into how to make sure you have enough willpower available to get the important things done in your business that will fuel your productivity and profit. Show notes: https://busybusinesswomen.biz/podcast61 Do Less. Achieve More. Faye X…

I recently got asked "Is there something that you do EVERY day in terms of marketing that makes a big difference to your sales Faye?".... well, yes there absolutely is! And in this podcast I share with you exactly what it is, and what tools I use to do it. In a sea of marketing strategies, there are some things that can make a HUGE difference to your results, and this one really does have a direct impact on my bank balance - no doubt about it. But it's a strategy that's SO often overlooked and forgotten, which is crazy as it's free to do, super simple and fast to implement, and something you can get started on today! This is a fast and snappy episode that's designed to give you a big dollop of food for thought and awesome value, even if you're short on time... I hope you enjoy it. I don't know about you, but LinkedIn has always felt like the unsexy social media cousin of Facebook and Instagram to me, but I also know it's a powerful B2B platform and one that I should probably spend more time on! So I was stoked to welcome Jillian Bullock onto the podcast who is the official one and only LinkedIn Ninja Down Under! With 25 years of marketing and social media management experience it became clear to Jillian that LinkedIn was the only solution that kicks butt for service-based B2B clients, and in this episode to get stuck into who LinkedIn is really for, and how you can use it to grow your business. As small business owners we often find ourselves wearing all-the-hats, but to truly grow your business it's important to stop doing everything yourself and in one way or another form a team - whether that's physical staff in your office or outsourcing to a Virtual Assistant for example. And when that happens you step into new territory - leadership. The way you manage people in your team can make or break your business, so in this podcast I talk to Paula Maidens about building and developing teams in small business, and we get stuck in to how to step up into a leadership role as well as how to delegate and handle icky conversations more effectively. Paula runs two successful and very different businesses - including one of Brisbane's leading yoga studio's - and has been helping small businesses build out and sort out amazing teams for over a decade now (she has 19 staff so she lives and breathe's her own advice!). A former Accountant, Paula know's exactly how to run a profitable business, and in this podcast she shares with us some valuable insights into her life as an entrepreneur and how nailing leadership can help you truly thrive. What you'll learn from this episode: •The importance of 'tweaking and trying' in order to improve the profit in your business •How to get clear on who the right people are for your business •How to get more comfortable with delegation •The best way to deal with underperforming staff •The biggest mistakes small business owners make when it come to building teams •What is a 'correcting conversation' and how can you use it to remove emotion from difficult conversations Enjoy! Confession: I only use Pinterest to check out hairstyles and guinea pig cages! But here's the thing - Pinterest is booming, and it should definitely play an important part in the marketing plans of many businesses. At the end of 2019, Pinterest reported having 322 million monthly active users worldwide, and whilst nearly one third of those users are from the US, the number of users outside the US is growing rapidly. Pinterest gained around 51 million international monthly users in 2019 compared to five million in the US - not numbers to be laughed at hey! So for those hefty reasons, I invited Connie Baker from Integrated Copy onto the podcast to share with us all-things Pinterest and there were lots of Ah-ha moments that's for sure! If you haven't got your head around how to use Pinterest in your business (or if you should) and don't really know where to start, this episode is for you. Enjoy! Faye…
