"Every Step Counts"
Ian Houston serves as President of the Scottish Business Network (SBN) US and as Ambassador in Washington, DC. He creates linkages between Scotland and the U.S. across sectors. In addition, he writes a monthly column for the Herald Scotland called 'Letter from America.'
He quotes Picasso in the very open and honest conversation –

Ian serves as the Development Chair of the DACOR Bacon House in Washington, DC and is on the board of The Robert Burns Ellisland Farm and Museum near Dumfries.
He created a consulting entity called ‘Clydebuilt’ through which he developed a series of conversations with former US secretaries of state, senators, ambassadors, CEOs, and academics focused on leadership.
Houston served for many years as the Executive Director of the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) supporting diplomats and diplomacy, was an advocate for the global poor and humanitarian engagement and worked in the U.S. Congress.
He said – “I feel like I’m an average person in many respects who’s had these remarkable experiences and I’m not sure why it happened, but I’ve found myself in quite unique situations meeting with presidents, ambassadors and senators and I’m grateful for that.
He is the author of a book of poetry called Under Candle Bright, the proceeds of which support the Glasgow based charity Mary's Meals.
Ian is a UK/US citizen.
