Today we met with Stacey Milbern, a youth activist with the National Youth Leadership Network. NYLN is an organization that works to build power among disabled young people. In response to the tragic news of over 15 young people committing suicide this fall because they were bullied for being gay, Stacey, and a team of disabled young people have been using art and media to talk about the connection between GLBT and disability communities, the way bodies and identities are marked as deviant, and the violence people experience when they do not fit in society's box of normalcy.
