Phil Swain is the CEO and co-founder of a new fitness concept called Q4 Active. Phil has well over 40 years of experience within a range of business roles, from general manager to CEO and everything in between. He most recently served as the CEO at YogaWorks, where he grew the company from nine studios to over 50 studios across the US. He also expanded the company’s teachers’ training program to a global level and spearheaded the development of MyYogaWorks online.
Prior to YogaWorks, Phil served as the President at the Sports Club Company where he oversaw the growth and operations of subsidiary brands such as Sports Club/LA, Reebok Sports Club, Spectrum Clubs, and Sports Connections. Q4 Active is Phil’s newest venture and it’s designed specifically for adults 50+ to support their combined physical and mental performance in a welcoming, safe, and fun experience. Here, Phil shares his reasons why he left the corporate world to start his own business in his 60s. We also discuss his career journey and all the steps that led him to where he is today.
Phil talks about how he started Q4 Active, which he started pitching in 2020. Even though the fitness world saw its challenges throughout the pandemic, it didn’t slow him down.
