Queer and Proud: MIRI Discusses UK Music Industry's Queer Artistry

MIRI is an artist, musician, songwriter, and community activist. Recognised for her distinctive soulful vocal tone and classic British songwriting, she has been heard on BBC radio shows, Radio X and countless independent and community stations. While MIRI’s music weaves stories, it’s her day-to-day life that she uses for inspiration. With songs discussing political injustices and the challenges we face internally and externally, MIRI is not afraid to tackle tough subjects and shares her experiences candidly. Her music has featured in both film and documentaries.

MIRI has curated, hosted and performed at a host of venues and events across the UK & EU including Southbank Centre, Ronnie Scott’s, Jazz Cafe, Art Lover Ground (Barcelona), Brighton Pride, Greenbelt Festival, Trafalgar Square for the Million Women Rise rally to end male violence against women, Ted X accompanying Lady Unchained on her poem ‘War Against Women & Girls’, and Sofar Sounds. She co promoted 'Blue Monday' for 9 years; a live music night for LBTQ women and allies with guest speakers including Raze Collective, Safe Gigs For Women and Get in Her Ears. The monthly event provided a safer space for the community and grassroots artists.
MIRI is an Ambassador for The F-List and on the Artist Council for Featured Artist Coalition, She is a workshop facilitator for many community and arts organizations working predominantly with young people and adults who have been put at risk and has performed her music in male prisons alongside Q&As on LGBTQ+ issues and awareness.
