EPISODE 17: Creating Reading Mini-Lessons for Middle School (Part 3 of a Reading Workshop Mini Series)
Manage episode 376535066 series 3477678
This is the third part of a mini-series on reading workshop in middle school.
Having effective reading mini-lessons is a crucial component of reading workshop. Putting a reading workshop model of instruction into your middle school language arts class is a lot of work. However, once the main work of planning your units is done upfront, your reading instruction will be both beneficial and enjoyable for your students (and you).
In this episode, we will discuss:
- What are Mini-Lessons?
- Components of the Mini-Lesson
- Teaching the Mini-Lesson
- Anchor Charts
I am hopeful that through my experience, this podcast series will help guide and inspire you to get either started with a reading workshop model of teaching or to hone your skills further.
