Ruby Namdar, Israeli author in New York: ״For the first time in my life I felt that I did not belong anywhere, not in Israel and not in the US״ רובי נמדר זכה בפרס ספיר על ״הבית אשר חרב״ הספר שכתב בניו יורק. לאחר הזכייה הוחלט לא לאפשר לסופרים שאינם מתגוררים בישראל להיות מועמדים לפרס. ״נפגעתי מאד מההחלטה לסגור את הפרס בפני הסופרים העבריים המתגוררים בחו״ל״, הוא אומר. Ruby Namdar won the important Israeli literature Sapir Prize for his book, The Ruined House. After he won, a decision was made to limit the future eligibility only to writers who live in Israel. “I was personally offended by the decision to exclude us, ex-pat Israeli authors, from the Sapir Prize, Israel’s most prestigious literary award,” he said.
