On 10 December 1520, Martin Luther provoked the Catholic Church by publicly burning Pope Leo X's papal bull, "Exsurge Domine." Almost exactly one hundred years later, a group of English settlers known as the "Saints and Strangers" set sail from Plymouth Sound in England. This podcast explores the events that occurred over those one hundred years, which contributed to the spread of Protestant beliefs in the New World.
