#228: Roadmap for the New Year

Nick, Rei, and Eric are back this year to talk about the latest goings on in World of Warcraft. First, Rei talks about being asked to help someone learn to play Holy Priest. She also talks about trying to do certain activities but always getting called in to help other people. She talks about getting her warlock to 70 and the struggle behind earning reputation, and points out that the Darkmoon Faire is active this week along with its 10% buff.
Eric talks about getting to phase three Raszageth and they discuss its length compared to the Sylvanas fight. He also talks about running Mythic+ reluctantly but having success. He and Nick also talk about the number of items required for crafting this expansion and how the new reagent bag slot is not enough.
Nick talks about the recently released Road Map for 2023 for World of Warcraft and how it is good that they know the direction the game is going. They go over some of the items on the map and look forward to the aggressive schedule.
Nick also spends a moment talking about the upcoming Trading Post feature which seems interesting but he is curious how it will be integrated into the game. He also talks about a post in which Blizzard went over what happened with the boats at Dragonflight launch from an engineering perspective.
Next, Nick discusses the return of Chris Metzen. He talks about wanting to know how this came together, if Metzen or if Blizzard initiated the contact. He talks about the story team struggling but not needing Metzen to come in to correct them. He is worried that Metzen will be pushed into a front-facing role despite that stress being part of the reason he left last time. He also talks about Metzen’s role in the sexual harassment allegations and hopes that he will be a force for good going forward in the company.
Finally, the gang looks back at episode #128 and Nick talks about his experiences with the portal rooms.
