Uncomfortable Conversations: The Untold Stories of the 3HO Kundalini Yoga Community

SatHanuman Singh Khalsa started practicing Kundalini Yoga in 1972. He was one of the 13 original members of the Baba Siri Chand Ashram (founded by Yogi John Twombly and wife Soorya Kaur). He started teaching KY in 1972 and continued until 2007 after relocating to Portland Oregon in which he continued his interfaith work and lecturing at schools from Florida, New England and Portland Oregon on Sikhi! . His daughters are Sat Pavan Kaur and Siri Swami Kaur who are both married to son's of our community.

He worked at Golden Temple Conscious Cookery in Wash DC and Boston for five years and was top salesman at Golden Temple EMPORIUM in Cambridge, Mass. from 1976 until 1980. He went on to start the Community Business Brokers in 1986 and Siri Guru Nanak Inc. (CBB/SGN) built both the southeast and northeast regions in 1986 until 2002.

SGN fell under KIIT (Khalsa Industries and Trades Umbrella: is the holding entity of all the Khalsa businesses; i.e. Akal, Yogi Tea, Golden Temple Bakery, Sunshine Oils, 3HO Health, Sun and Sons, KRI, SGN, Herb Tech, SikhNet).

He’s trained police and FBI about the Sikh path and is the first Sikh (with turban and full beard) to be hired by TSA/DHS. He’s now semi-retired working as the Presence Marketing Retail services for Whole Foods in Oregon for the past 8 years.
