On this week's podcast we're talking about the two most common reason that people turn to food:
- To distract from emotions
- To soothe/comfort/reward
Food is a great way to distract ourselves--it's available, enjoyable, and delicious. It's a great thing to do in front of the television in order to forget about the day you just had.
Food is also a wonderful way to soothe and comfort ourselves. It not only physically comforts our system, it connects us to family, friends, and ancestors as well as to our culture. All of that is really magical.
But what do you do about that? You get to know all of the parts that use food for emotional reasons. And you can start getting to know those parts by doing a parts mapping exercise, like we talked about last week. We're continuing our discussion about that in today's episode so take a listen!
