A message that keeps coming up in the Electric Ideas community as we move into the holiday season is to give ourselves permission to do one thing less. So, I'm taking that advice in stride and replaying an episode I feel is very timely, and it's all about gratitude.

Benedictine Monk and scholar David Steindl-Rast, often referred to as the father of gratitude, says, “The root of joy is gratefulness. It is not joy that makes us grateful. It is gratitude that makes us joyful.” During a season where many of us reflect on what we are thankful for, in today’s mini jolt, I explore how practicing gratitude in our everyday lives is a source of deeper happiness.

I share the connection between gratitude and happiness, how to live gratefully in the world, and some of my favorite teachings from David Steindl-Rast.

I hope this episode inspires you to open up a broader concept of grateful living. I would love to hear from you and to hear where you’ve decided to place a gratitude stop sign in your life. Message me or tag me on IG with your thoughts - @whitneywoman.
