Jim Garrison was the New Orleans district attorney and, a result of his investigation into the murder of JFK, Clay Shaw was indicted by a grand jury and tried on conspiracy charges to assassinate the president. It was the only criminal trial ever conducted in the United States related to the president's murder. Garrison's investigation and trial became the inspiration and partial basis for Oliver Stone's movie JFK. Today's episode introduces us to some of the key elements that are important to understand about the significance of the Garrison trial, despite its outcome.
