What will we learn this week?

What is the definition of "Tradition"

1. To hand down something/ pass on a natural level
2. Sacred Tradition: You are handing down "holy things", or "eternal things"
3. Jesus gave to us the mysteries of the church teachings
   1. Doctrine of the Faith
   2. Pathway to Jesus
4. Tradition has been under attack for a long time
   1. you can can't change the eternal truth of our Catholic faith
   2. Truth is Truth
5. Different with Protestants believe only the bible is where we get truth
   1. This is not true
   2. The bible itself was handed down to us by sacred tradition
   3. There is The Church's doctrine/eternal truth/sacred tradition that tells us which books are in the bible
6. Sacred Tradition must be expressed
   1. Tradition is not dynamic because dynamic means change
   2. Our Catholic Church's Doctrine is unchanging
   3. Formulation of the doctrine has changed, which mean give a more defined expression of The Church's Doctrine
   4. However, the actual truths have not changed
   5. The Formulation of The Doctrine has been clarified over time through the saints/ doctor's of the Church

1. Have you learned something new today?
2. Is it clear to you that The Bible is part of the Doctrine but it doesn't stand alone. We need the church teachings and the scriptures to live by.
3. Have you been challenged by protestants before? Maybe not knowing how to respond when they proclaim the bible alone is all you need for the truth?
